Promote the consumption of fish throughout the country and ensure that the promotion of fish consumption goes hand in hand with imparting skills on how to prepare different cuisines of fish.
In line with our mandate, we have constantly optimized our efforts of making fish accessible and affordable throughout the country by setting up fish shops and conducting monthly regional fish promotions to ensure our footprints and activities representation in all parts of the country.
Currently, NFCPT owns and operates 17 fish shops in 13 of Namibia's 14 Regions (namely Erongo, Khomas, //Karas, Hardarp, Omaheke, Kunene, Oshikoto, Oshana, Omusati, Ohangwena, Kavango West, Kavango East, and Zambezi) and employs about 149 employees to deliver its mandate.
Over the years, we have witnessed a significant improvement of fish consumption among Namibians from roughly 4kg per capita at independence to 15.4 per capita fish consumption in 2019. In 2001 NFCPT distributed a mere 500MT, this amount has since increased to 7116 metric tonnes
of fish and 20,404 tinned cans of horse mackerel.
Our main fish products are horse mackerel and hake which we receive from the Government through a Quota Allocation by the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources.
